Recently, the Ningbo Haishu Recyclable Sorting Center, which was built by JONO Enviro, was officially put into use. This is a mixed plastic sorting line, which can subdivide plastics of different colors and different materials into 13 kinds, improve the recycling rate of plastics, and further enhance the fine sorting ability of recyclables.
Project Highlights
The mixed plastic sorting line contains automatic intelligent equipment such as Eddy Current Screen, AI Visible Light Sorting machine, AI sorting robot, and so on. Through the way of "mechanical intelligent sorting + manual intervention sorting", the plastic products thrown by residents are subdivided according to types.
By Material
The collected plastics can be sorted into:
PET plastics like mineral water bottles and beverage bottles;
HDPE like laundry liquid bottles, shampoo bottles;
Miscellaneous plastics such as plastic toys, plastic frames, plastic bags and so on.
By Colors
According to the different colors, the collected plastics can be divided into 6 categories such as transparent, blue, green and white and so on.
Project Outcome
Higher Sorting Efficiency
The sorting accuracy can reach more than 95%, and the sorting efficiency is improved by about 50% compared with the original manual sorting.
Higher Profit
After fine sorting of recyclables can obtain a higher profit margin, for example, transparent plastic bottles can be sold at a price of about 4,000 CNY per ton, and motley plastic bottles are only about 3,000 CNY per ton.
"High-value Subsidy For Low-value" Model
The current selling price of yellow cardboard sorted out meticulously is around 1,450 CNY per ton. After the recyclable materials are subdivided, the highest can increase in value by 2 to 3 times. “By generating high profits from high-value recyclables, we can subsidize the bottom-up collection of low-value recyclables," said the relevant person in charge of the Haishu Recyclable Sorting Center. And the "high-value subsidy for low-value" model has enabled the sustainable operation of the sorting center.
